REVISED STANDARDS March 11, 2010, Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning hosted a community meeting to present the proposed changes to refine the existing Community Standards District (CSD). A CSD is a set of zoning rules which allow a community to shape its look and character. Public comments were received and a vote was taken to continue to work with the document and make modifications based on community input. The CSD Revision Committee will be hosting a workshop in the near future inviting the public to participate in the modification process to determine the necessary changes needed to reach community consensus. Los Angeles County Code allows a community to implement special development standards to more closely control the growth and change within the community. These communities are called Community Standards Districts and their community standards supersede the general provisions of County Code. In 1985, the residents of Agua Dulce adopted a few broad standards and guidelines with the intent of protecting our unique environment. WHY IS THE CSD BEING REVISED? Our small town has experienced significant growth in the recent past from both individual and group development projects. The existing CSD document was written many years ago in order to provide broad guidelines for preserving the rural character of this community. Due to the ongoing need to maintain a balance between community growth and preservation of our rural lifestyle, the CSD has been reviewed and a revised draft created based on input gathered over the last ten years. Changes have been incorporated in the current CSD draft in order to formalize past recommendations and provide guidelines that effectively address the current development environment.
